Located in the Niles area of Fremont, Don offers private lessons in piano, voice, theory, composition, flute and trumpet and has been teaching in the Tri-Valley area since 1985. Don offers personalized programs such as Suzuki, Jazz, Applied Theory or the Celebrity Series.

Don strives to enhance individual development through the study of technique, tonal quality and repertoire with a style of teaching geared toward problem solving and achieving maximum results. Don welcomes all levels of students from beginning to advanced.

In-depth studies include Jazz Rock and popular styles as well as advanced classical including many of the great masters from Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin and more.

Don offers extensive material with emphasis on developing strong fundamentals through scales, chords, arpeggios, harmonic progressions, independence in reading, vocalizes, ear training, extended and altered harmonies, modal theory and rhythmic interpretation.

Whether it’s Mozart, Bill Evans or Boogie Woogie Blues, Don has it covered. Through cooperation and enthusiasm, you can learn to read and play the multi-colored language of music in many exciting and different styles.

Don offers recitals and students are encouraged to participate. Having a performance on the horizon helps to organize the practice and target goals. Don has had some students who have become accomplished, professional musicians and several have won awards from the Fremont Symphony.
